Hoffman2 HPC Storage: Home, project and nobackup directories
Dear Hoffman2 user,
You may have access to multiple directories on Hoffman2 HPC storage, depending on your sponsor.
Here is an overview of the different classes of storage:
/u/home/j/jbruin: Free, 20GB backed-up home directory storage made available to every Hoffman2 user.
/u/project/sponsorgroup: Backed-up project storage purchased by a PI for use by their group (and/or collaborating groups). This storage has a file count limit of 1 million files per TB.
/u/nobackup/sponsorgroup: NON-backed-up project storage purchased by a PI for use by their group (and/or collaborating groups). There is no file count limit on this storage. This storage is no longer available for new purchases; all new and renewing storage purchases are inclusive of backup.

For best storage system response, store no more than 10,000 files per subdirectory.
